Is silver nitrate test enough to confirm sea water contamination? The answer is NO.

We performed the silver nitrate test during a joint survey.

Water ingress was very much evident in one container. Silver nitrate test indicated positive saline reaction.

The samples for the packaging material and cargo (Food Grade) were drawn for the lab analysis

The lab analysis revealed Salinity in packaging: 374ppm Salinity in cargo: 74 ppm

Note: Only If the chloride level is more than 500 ppm, it will be considered as sea water. If it is less than 500 ppm, it will be considered as fresh or rain water.
